Descartes: COGITO ERGO SUM ‘I think, therefore I am’

How Descartes got to 'I think, therefore I am'.

I am a thinking thing.

But what if anything can I know for certain?

I can't rely on my senses. They sometimes mislead me.

How can I be sure I'm not dreaming now?

But surely 2+ 3 = 5, even in a dream?

But what if a little demon is inside my mind and is controlling my thoughts, so that every time I add numbers together I make a basic error?

And if there's a little demon in my mind how can I be sure of anything? I can only doubt everything.

But every thought no matter however unreliable proves that I exist.

so, I think, therefore I am
